How to translate .csv files

Owner Admin

Here are the steps to translate .csv files.

1. Create a translation project

Log in to your POEditor account, create a new translation project and add the base language you'll be translating from.

2. Import .csv file

Use the Import functionality the project page to import your .csv file, with translations in the language you created.

Import terms and translations (Project page) - POEditor localization management platform

If your .csv file contains string IDs, the translations you import will be automatically suggested as Default Reference Language. You can change the DRL in the project's settings.

3. Add contributors to translate the .csv file

Add the desired languages for translation, invite your contributors to join and start localizing your .csv files.

If you don't have any translators to invite to join your project, there are other translation options available.

Whenever you like, you can export each language using the the Export function in the corresponding translation page.

If you want to automate the import/export steps, consider using the POEditor API or one of the integrations with code hosting platforms.
