Documentation on how to translate software with POEditor

Screenshots are very useful for translators collaborating on a software localization project. With the POEditor localization platform, you can share images with your translators using the Comments System. There are two ways in which you can add screenshots:

1. Upload screenshots directly in the comments section

To add a screenshot for a particular string this way, click on the comment icon next to string and then click on the photo icon in the comment box. You can select the image from your computer, drag it, or paste it in the comment box from your clipboard. This will generate a public link to the image you uploaded.

After the link for the uploaded image appears, click Add to insert it in the comments.

2. Upload screenshots somewhere else and link them in the comment section

Upload the screenshots somewhere, where it is most convenient for you (on your site or on a file hosting website, for example). Then, copy/paste each link in the comment section of the corresponding term.

When your translators will press the comments buttons, they will get a preview of the image that was linked there, which can be enlarged by clicking on it.

Note: Once you've added the screenshots to your software localization project, you don't need to repeat the process in the case of a second import. Just make sure that, when you export, the links to the screenshots are in the first comment, and they will be kept in the downloaded localization file.
